On August 20th, we sent our thirtieth batch of questions to Hasbro to once again take part in their
Star Wars Question and Answer sessions. Today, we've got the answers to our two questions!
1) It was really neat to see some of the "work-in-progress" for the new Dr. Evazan in the Celebration V coverage. Please tell us that the evil Doctor, Ponda, and Bom Vimdin are all still on track for 2011 and if so, when - Spring or Fall? And while we're talking Cantina, we'll put in our yearly comment that it was disappointing to once again see no signs of that center distillery piece in your convention displays. Is that bar center piece even still in the idea parking lot?
** First, the good news. All three figures will be coming next year, with Bom up first in Spring, and the other two in Fall. Now the bad news - there is no work currently going on with any distillery pieces for the Cantina. It is too big to do as basic figures, and Cantina bar scenes unfortunately are not the most compelling Battle Pack concept. The idea is still in the Parking Lot, but it will take the absolute right occasion to move it out, and that opportunity has not presented itself yet. Hopefully some day....
2) I picked up the new Jabba's Throne set at Walmart and it's fantastic. A great toy and a huge improvement over the previous Jabbas. The only problem is that quite a few of my Jabba's palace denizens look even more dated next to him. Any chance of seeing some upgrades to Yakface, Ree-Yees, and Barada before too long?
** Yes, there will be updates to some of these in the next few years. First up will be Barada - at least Kithaba, a re-do of the vintage Kenner Barada. Expect him some time in 2011. One other will hopefully be out in 2012.
